Well, you’re in luck, McHenry County is home to 3 farms filled with sunflowers for days. Below is a list of our local farms offering sunflower fields, mazes and special events. Always check each of their social media channels before visiting to ensure the blooms are ready as things change quickly based on the weather. Many farms also require purchasing tickets ahead of time.

Von Bergen’s Country Market is hosting its 5th annual Sunflower Festival with over 30 acres of sunshine. Enjoy the day with your friends and family making memories on the farm. Stroll through the sunflowers, take pictures and enjoy the fresh country air.

Stade’s Farm & Market’s u-pick sunflowers begin in mid-July and lasts through late September. They have over 2 acres of 18 different varieties of sunflowers. They also grow other cut flowers like snapdragons, zinnias, cosmos, marigolds and amaranths. Know that there is a bit of a walk to the sunflower picking area so make sure to bring comfortable clothing, strollers and anything else you may need.

TOM’s sunflower maze is a great event for families. Spend time walking through their 4 acres of sunflowers and stop along the way to experience their fun photo ops. Children can also enjoy the small play area. Ticketing is limited and must be purchased online to guarantee admission to the event. TOM’s will also be hosting Sip N’ Sunflower events for those 21 and over. Grab your friend sand enjoy the sunflowers will sipping on wine and local craft beer from Sew Hop’d Brewery and light appetizers.
